Our Story and Our Cause
The Printery began with a simple yet powerful idea: to make a difference. Started by Andy & Merete Benestad under Hope Africa Collective in the mid 2010s, The Printery began as just a passion project based in Philippi to support the community development work of the organisation.
After many years of growth and now powering impact through Living Hope, that vision still drives us today! Based in beautiful Cape Town and operating out of Capri, we believe that every person has the potential to bring hope and transformation to their community.
In 2000, Living Hope was founded with a bold mission — to bring hope, break despair, and build Africa. From our humble beginnings in Cape Town, Living Hope has grown into a dynamic organisation with over 270 staff members serving across eleven branches in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and Free State. Every day, we work to restore dignity, break the cycle of poverty, and empower individuals and families through holistic care and practical support. Together, we are changing lives, strengthening communities, and spreading hope—one step at a time.
The Printery is proud to be part of this story.
People are complex, and the challenges they face are multifaceted. That’s why our approach must be holistic too.
Living Hope works across key areas of impact, offering programmes that meet real needs:
- Health Care – Compassionate care through home-based services, support groups, health counselling, and our Health Care Centre.
- Substance Abuse Recovery – A structured eight-week programme that helps break the chains of addiction and restore lives.
- Life Skills Development – Values-based education for children and teens, plus job readiness through The Way to Work and Job Centre.
- Youth Skills Development – Practical training empowering people to earn their way out of poverty through work readiness & vocational skills.
- Family Strengthening – Early intervention, trauma care, gender-based violence support, and advocacy for vulnerable children.
- Community Response – Disaster relief, donation distribution, overseas team visits, and nutrition support through Cooking Mama’s.
Through these programmes, Living Hope tackles poverty and despair head-on—and it’s making a real difference!
The Printery supports these life-changing efforts by donating 100% of our profits to Living Hope.
This is how we—and you—help bring hope, break despair, and build Africa.
Through Products with Purpose.
